Chalmer Tidwell – Obituary

Chalmer Tidwell, 78 of Nesmith Community, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 21, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Tidwell was born on November 15, 1938 in Nesmith Community. Chalmer farmed for
31 years and then worked in the construction field as a supervisor. He was a great loving and caring husband, father, and family man. He enjoyed gardening, building bird houses out of gourds, hunting, football, camping, fishing, barbecuing, and watching Auburn Football. Chalmer was known as “Snuffy” by those Davis boys.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 6-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11am. Brother Delbert Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Chalmer is survived by his son, James Chalmer (Sharon Denise) Tidwell; daughters, Charlene (Michael) Monk, Sheila Ann (Warren) Hendershot, Patricia Sue (Justin) McGee, and Glenda Nell (Allan) Burruss. He was “Granpa” to 10 grandchildren, Neil Kelley, Stephanie (David) Roberts, Brian (Trish) Monk, Justin (Stacy) Monk, Kyle Hendershot, Nicolas (Daidra) Hendershot, Kellie Farasyn, Jakob McGee, Heather (Matthew) Blair, Chad McNeal; and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Nell Tidwell; infant great grandchild; parents, Early Sylvester and Daisy Marie Tidwell; brother, Bertis Tidwell; sister, Nadine Tidwell; brother and sister in laws, John, Floyd, Lloyd, Juanita, Loudell, Hubert, and Carroll Davis.
