Cecil Eugene Ergle, age 74, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Monday, March 02, 2026, at UAB Hospital.
Eugene proudly served in the National Guard and then worked as part of the TVA IBW for over 25 years. He was a loving man, a great husband, a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, and tinkering with things. He was a dependable and hard-working man, who loved to laugh and enjoy life. He enjoyed traveling all over the world and was always on the lookout for eagles. He loved his family but first and foremost he loved his Lord. He was a devoted Christian and a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Phil Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Houston & Mildred Martina (Solley) Ergle; nephews, Marvin Craig Ergle, Jason Ergle; and sister-in-law, Rita Ergle.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Judy Kay Ergle; children, Christopher Shane Ergle (Melody), Jessica Lynn Powell (Martin); grandchildren, Tristin Lee Ergle (Carissa), Blake Allen Dodge (Taylor); great-grandchild, Kayzlyn Dodge; siblings, Joyce Cantrell, Richard Ergle (JoAnn), Resa Ergle (Kay), Johnny Ergle (Susie), Clifford Ergle; brother & sisters in law, Tammy & Bruce Dodge, Reba Harris, Jessie Harris; several nieces & nephews; as well as a host of friends.
The visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 08, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Phil Campbell. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church with Bro. Tim Haney and Bro. Terry Buster officiating the service. The burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Shane Ergle, Tristin Ergle, Bruce Dodge, Blake Dodge, Randy Ergle, and Johnathan Ergle. The honorary pallbearers will be Eugene’s brothers, Johnny, Clifford, Resa, Richard, and Jessie Harris.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bethany Sparks, Dr. Robert Hollis, as well as to the friends and family for your love, care, prayers, and visits.
