Cecil Edwin Kitchens, 75, died June 16, 2016, at Lawrence Medical Center, Moulton, Alabama. He was born June 27, 1940, in Morgan County, Alabama. He was a retired chemical technician for NALCO. He was a Navy veteran having served in Vietnam.
He is survived by daughter, Pam Crumpton (Joel), Moulton, Alabama; brothers, Willard Kitchens (Kiyoko), Prattville, Alabama, and Wiley Kitchens, Cullman, Alabama; granddaughter, Victoria Jackson; stepgrandson, Joshua Crumpton (Beth); stepgranddaughter, Ashley Peppers (Kyle); four great-granddaughters; mother-in-law, Iler Heaps, Moulton, Alabama; and sisters-in-law, Laura Heaps and Linda Hale (Doug). Pallbearers will be Roy Kitchens, Keith Kitchens, Nathan Parker, Joel Crumpton, Eric Knight, and Brandon Kitchens.
He was preceded in death by wife, Faye Heaps; father, Henry Clay Kitchens; mother, Bonnie O’Neal Kitchens; brothers, Frank Kitchens, Jesse Kitchens, Travis Kitchens, Dean Kitchens, Elmo Kitchens, and Samuel L. Kitchens; sister, Ozelle Cryer; and brother-in-law, James R. “Jimmy” Heaps Jr.
Mr. Kitchens was a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge (past master), Moulton Order of the Eastern Star, Fleet Reserve Association, American Legion, North Alabama Democratic Coalition, and Lawrence County Democratic Executive Committee. He served 30 years in the U.S. Navy serving six tours in Vietnam.
Visitation is today, noon-2 p.m., at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel, Moulton, Alabama, with interment in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Wiley Kitchens, Roy Kitchens, and Sonya Cooper are officiating.
