Carrie Lynn Hood JohnsonCarrie Lynn Hood Johnson, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend left us entirely too soon on October 6, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Eddy Johnson, and daughter, Allison Johnson of Cocoa, Florida; mother, Sandra Gurley Hood of Huntsville, Alabama; sister, Melissa Hood Bullard (Brad); nephew, Eric Bullard and niece, Kate Bullard, of Harvest, Alabama; several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hood, of Huntsville. Carrie was a Librarian and Tenured Assistant Professor at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida. She was respected by her co-workers and admired by her students. In addition to her successful career, she spent her time lovingly raising her daughter alongside her husband of 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her pets, music, and as any good librarian, reading. Carrie grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and began playing the flute in middle school. She graduated from S. R. Butler High School in 1985 and was a proud member of the school’s marching and concert bands, winning many group and individual awards. She attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville where she pledged Delta Zeta Sorority in 1986. While at UAH, she played in both the Pep Band and Wind Ensemble. She graduated from UAH in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She continued her education by earning a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Alabama in 1993. She followed in her father’s footsteps, earning a Bachelor’s at UAH and a Master’s at Alabama. Carrie served in several library positions over the years in various locations in addition to her most recent post, including Upper School Librarian at Randolph School in Huntsville, Alabama and Librarian at Sterling Municipal Library in Baytown, Texas. She married the love of her life, Eddy, in 1996 and they lived in Huntsville, Alabama and Seabrook, Texas before settling in Cocoa, Florida where they welcomed daughter Allison Juliana in 2009. The family attends Rockledge United Methodist Church. Carrie had a warm and engaging personality and had the ability to make friends quickly and easily. Her relationships were deep, lasting and loyal. She had a fantastic sense of humor and loved a good laugh. She will be missed every day. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 16th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Services will also be held in Florida later this month. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Eastern Florida State College Foundation in Carrie’s memory.
