Carrie Geraldine Flanagan, 88 of Tuscumbia, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Shaw Cemetery with Marty Evans and Michael South officiating.
Geraldine was a native of Tishomingo, MS, and long-time resident of the shoals. She was a member of the East Colbert Church of Christ. Geraldine was known as a hard-working woman who spent her life caring for her family and others. She worked at G.C. Lingerie in her early years and later worked at Hope Haven where she had several occupations caring for the residents. She was the manager of The Right Track Restaurant in Sheffield and retired from Reynold’s Metals Company in 1996. She loved gardening and was happiest there.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, James Lesley Daniel and Cordie Daniel; husband and father of her children, David Isom Flanagan; stepson, Arnold Flanagan; brothers, Earl Daniel, Merle Daniel, Gilbert Daniel, Emory Daniel, Henry Daniel, Duane Daniel, and Bill Daniel; and sisters, Marie Hamby, Evelyn Bryant, and Lulie Simmons.
She is survived by her children, Dianna Burden (Garland) of Town Creek, Michael Flanagan (Anita); stepdaughters, Connie Ridgeway of Tuscumbia, and Carolyn Kantor (Michael) of Sheffield; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Devin Burden, Matthew Flanagan, Victor Rogers, Jeff Willis, Dan Pickens, and Michael Kantor.
The family expresses special thanks to the nurses and staff of Cottage of the Shoals for the excellent care of Geraldine in her last days, North Alabama Hospice Care. Robert, Brandon, Julie, and Reva will forever be in our hearts.
