Carolyn Wright Meadows, age 77, of Muscle Shoals, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, 11-1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tom Whatley and Bro. Greg Willis officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Meadows was a Colbert County native and was retired from the Muscle Shoals City School System. She loved her Lord and served Him as a lifelong active member of First Southern Baptist Church and loved her church and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Annie Lou Hamm Wright, her brother, Ralph Wright and sisters, Jane Barnett, Lavonne Wright and Freida Dodson.
She is survived by her husband for fifty nine years, J. B. Meadows; daughters, Lisa Claunch (Donnie), Rita Nelson (Roy), Jonna DeVaney (David) all of Muscle Shoals; grandchildren, Allison Legg (Justin), Ana Overton (Matt), John-Dalton McCorkle, Noel Phillips (Wes), Madelyn and John Bradford DeVaney; great grandchildren, John-Thomas Phillips and Mallie Rae Legg, and sister, Ernestine Vandiver.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for her family and spending time with them was her greatest joy. She was still very close to her classmates from Howell Graves and Deshler.
Pallbearers are Donnie Claunch, Roy Nelson, David DeVaney, John-Dalton McCorkle, John Bradford DeVaney, Wes Phillips, Justin Legg, Matt Overton and Brandon Brown.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Brian Richards and staff along with her caregivers, Rosa Duster, Ravena Jarmon, Lemeka Sears and Margaret Gregary, Gentiva, Keller Hospital Palliative Care nurses and staff with a special thanks to Amanda Ramsey for her loving care to Mother and our entire family during her last moments.
