A Visitation service for Carolyn A. Besnyl, 94, will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment will be in Forest Lawn Covina Hills Cemetery in California.
Carolyn A. Besnyl passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Decatur Health & Rehab Center. She was born November 16, 1930, in Morgan County, to John Terry Aycock and Flora Patillo Isley Aycock.
She was a member of McKendree Christian Fellowship, formerly McKendree UMC. She was active as a former Sunday School teacher and President of the UMW, was the organizer of rallies for Mental Health Awareness. She was active for over 25 years and former President of the League of Women’s Voters, East San Gabriel Valley, California chapter. She attended Falkville High School, where she was awarded “Most Worthy Senior”. She then received her Bachelors Degree from Montevallo College in Physical Education and Masters Degree for Family Counseling from Azusa Pacific College. She was employed by the State of California as an Elementary School Teacher for 25 years prior to her retirement.
Preceding her in death were her husband – Vaughn Besnyl and a daughter- Joyce Besnyl O’Neil.
Survivors include –
her Daughter – Terry Besnyl Boyd, her Sons – Randall Besnyl, Glenn Besnyl, and Timothy Besnyl, Seven Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren.
