Car Chase Near Boaz Leads to Arrest

DEKALB COUNTY-The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on the arrest of one suspect on Saturday, March 11:

“On March 11th a DeKalb County Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road 479 for a traffic stop. When the driver of the vehicle Christopher Gerald Lacey, 45 of Boaz, refused to stop, the deputy advised other deputies, Crossville Police Department, and Geraldine Police Department and requested assistance in stopping the vehicle. During the chase Deputies were informed that the vehicle was reported stolen from Albertville.

After a short chase Lacey ran the vehicle into a corn field and fled on foot to a wooded area close by. K-9 Marianna picked up the scent of Lacey and led Deputies and Officers to him. Lacey was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st, Reckless Endangerment, Attempt to Elude, and Resisting Arrest. Lacey also received several traffic citations.

Sheriff Harris says “Our K-9 Marianna also did a great job on finding Lacey in the woods and thanks to the Deputies, Crossville Officers, and Geraldine Officers for their assistance in obtaining Lacey.
