Calvin (Kelly) Beyer – Obituary

Calvin (Kelly) Beyer departed this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, 14 days. He was born in Massbach, Illinois on March 13, 1926, the son of the late Arthur and Bess Belk Beyer. On May 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joni Williamson, who survives.

Calvin served in the United States Air Force from 1946 thru 1948. He was a part of the Berlin Airlift, supplying food to refugees. He was the night manager for Aqua Yacht Harbor and previously worked for Ditto Landing, Harbormaster in Huntsville, Alabama and was the club owner of Napoleon’s Nook in Huntsville, Alabama. Calvin was an avid boatsman and enjoyed spending time on the water. He played the banjo and toured with Jerry Van Dyke. He loved life, people, had a great personality, loved his family and his children.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jani Beyer of Counce, Tennessee; daughter, Gail Beyer Vaughn of Shiloh, Tennessee; stepson, William Maguire of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mikke Ohlson, Clara Beyer, Georgia Vaughn, and Erin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Mira and Maks; sisters, Arlene Allen of Bourbonnais, Illinois and Bonnie Stass of Stockton, Illinois; and brother, Gale Beyer of Illinois.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Delbert Beyer and Alan Beyer; sisters, Jeannette Beyer and Sabra Beyer.
