Obituary of Burton Roberson Parks Burton “Burt” Roberson Parks passed away peacefully at his home in Decatur, Alabama on April 29, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur, AL.

Burt was born on October 13, 1953 to Dr. Raymond and Margaret Parks. After graduating from Decatur High school in 1972, Burt received degrees in 1976 from the University of North Alabama where he majored in English and History.

Burt put his skills to good use during his career by teaching 7th grade English and 8th grade History at Priceville Junior High School. He was also a long-time golf pro at Decatur Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Don and Larry, and a nephew, Drew Parks.

Burt is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Linda; his son, Michael Cox, daughter-in-law, Marilyn and two grandsons, Lucas and Jackson Cox. He is also survived by his brother William Parks (Gina) and nieces: Blair Ritchie (Jeremy), Carrie Sutton (Mike), and Jennifer Lane (Brian).

 

Burt enjoyed playing golf, gardening, his cats, and spending time with his beautiful grandsons.

A private service will be held for family members on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Roselawn Funeral Home.
