Funeral service for Buddy Lonn Glasscock, age 68, of Decatur, will be Saturday, August 2, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Chris Martin and Wayne Sandlin officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Glasscock, who died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence, was born April 23, 1946, in Morgan County, to Victor Hugo Glasscock and Mildred Howell Glasscock. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Adam Prentiss Howell and Jimmie Lee Howell, all of Hartselle. Mr. Glasscock was employed in the electric division of Decatur Utilities for 38 years, and owned and operated Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. He had practiced equine gnathology since 1996. He faithfully attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a substitute Sunday school teacher in Fred Lamn’s class.
He is survived by his wife, Jannice Proctor Glasscock of Decatur; one daughter, Sharon Thompson Greene (Robert William Greene, Jr.) of Decatur; one sister, Mary Glasscock Sims of Decatur; and one grandson, Owen Robert Thompson of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Sandlin, Dennis Roberts, John Glasscock, Eugene Reese, Billy Howard, and Fred Lamn. Honorary pallbearers will be Reed Adcock, Don Jackson, and Duane Berry.
The family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
