Bonnie Ray HendrixIt is with great sadness that the family of Bonnie Ray “B.R.” Hendrix, of Owens Cross Roads, announces his passing after a long battle with dementia, on Monday, at the age of 77 years. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Ray was born June 19, 1942, in Cullman, AL the eldest of nine children. He was an extremely hard worker and worked most of his life in commercial construction.and worked most of his life in commercial construction. Before his decline, he loved working in his garden each summer, getting everything ready for the Martin birds, working on multiple projects around his home, watching westerns, and most of all loved spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his kind, giving heart, his toothpick from the side of his mouth, and his heavy foot. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Bonnie Lee Hendrix; mother, Betty Mae Hendrix; brother, Mark Dewayne Hendrix; and sister, Annette Reese.

Surviving are wife, Helen Myers Hendrix; daughter, Gayla (Tim) Pelcic; son, Tim (Paula) Hendrix; daughter, Jennifer (Brad) Spivey; grandchildren, Jessie (Kyle), Connor, Ashley (Matt), Alex (Audrey), Marissa, and Carson; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Karter, Mason, Kase, and Hadley; step-daughter, Sandy (Bill) Dean; step-grandchildren, Lyndsey and Austin; step-great grandchildren, Abel and Troy; brothers, Tommy Hendrix and Jerry (Carolyn) Hendrix; sisters, Margie Gerstman, Freda Baker, Tina (Bruce) McDowell, and Lisa (Gene) Ballard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special offering of thanks to Brittany, Nigerie, and Alisha of Comfort Care Hospice.

Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2020, 9:30 am to 11:00 am at New Hope Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Dripping Springs Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
