Bobby Joe Knox

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Bobby Joe Knox, a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, brother, grandfather, and friend who departed this life peacefully on September 17, 2025, at Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham, AL.
Bobby was born in Limestone County, AL, on November 23, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, father, Ross Knox and mother, Katherine Vincent Knox Cobb, and stepfather Warren “Tom” Cobb.
Bobby worked as a pipefitter/plumber for the Local 377 for over twenty-five years. He worked all over the country and retired from Sexton Welding Supply as a salesman after working for over ten years.
Those left behind cherish his memory including his childhood sweetheart and lifelong companion, Carolyn Virginia Lowery Knox. They married on November 26, 1966, and lived a full godly life and were richly blessed for over fifty-nine years. They both were members of the Maple Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Currently they have resided in Sylacauga, AL, for the past five years. Children, Panda Jo Knox, Jason “Keith” Knox (Carmen), Justin “Brent” Knox (Christian Marlene). Grandchildren, Sara “Danza” Locke, Lydia Wagner Lester (Michael), Gabby Knox, Ethan Knox, Dylan Knox, Preslie Knox, Callie Knox, and Beaux Knox. Great-grandchildren, Vanna Locke, Knox Reifers, Eden “Rose” Reifers, and Everleigh Rae Lester. Siblings, Billy Knox, John Knox (Carol), Dean Knox Mitchell, and Martha Cobb Workman.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Walter “Douglas” Knox; sister-in-law, Dauphene Knox, and brothers-in-law, J.E. Mitchell and Danny Workman.
A celebration of life for Bobby Knox will be held at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, 322 U.S. 31, Athens, AL 35611, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
