Bobby James Gilliland – Obituary

Bobby James Gilliland, 73 of Addison, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 4, 1944 in Winston County, Alabama. He was a member of Addison Church of God, Addison Saddle Club and Addison Masonic Lodge #463. Bobby retired from Dowdle Gas, where he worked for many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed many years of horseback riding with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where services will be held on Friday at 11am. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Brother Micheal Turner will officiate.  Burial will be in Addison Church of God Cemetery.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Gilliland; sons, Brian Waldrep and his wife Terri, Greg Gilliland and his wife Randa; daughters, Genny York and her husband Rickey, and Gina Gilliland; brother, Johny Gilliland; and sister, Debbie Crawford. He was “Paw Paw” to 10 grandchildren, Bobby Gilliland, Deidra Key, Devon Hill, Lacey Hammack, Stora Gilliland, Gage Gilliland, Kyle Morris, Kaitlyn Hernandez, Britton York and Colt York; and 7 great grandchildren, Eli Key, Ford Hill, Brooklyn Hammack, Luke Morris, Avery Morris, Gabriel Hernandez and Alayna Hernandez.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, James Odis Gilliland and Pauline Gilliland McCurley; son, Tony Gilliland; and sisters, Carolyn Hayes and Patricia Dianne Oliver.
