Bobby Gene Butler – Obituary

bobbyBobby Gene Butler, 79, of Elgin, departed this life and entered into his heavenly home Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was born on April 2, 1934.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Elgin Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 59 years, Willo Sue Butler; daughters, Belinda Hamner and Teresa Trousdale (Tony); grandchildren, Terra Argraves (Bobby), Corey Hamner (Chrissie), Tamra Trousdale, Chalee Hamner; sister, Ann Putman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Leona Butler; brother, James Earl Butler and son-in-law, Ray Hamner.

Bobby was a member of Elgin Missionary Baptist Church and loved the Elgin Community. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his harvest with the community as well as tending to his knock out rose bushes. He also loved to drink coffee with his buddies at the Quik Mart. Bobby was one of the most kind hearted, generous and loving souls of his time.

Pallbearers will be Corey Hamner, Bobby Argraves, Greg Putman, Jonathan Osborn, Daniel Hollingsworth, Anthony Hollingsworth, Tim Smith and Byron Howard. Honorary Pallbearers are Fred “Pudgy” Covington, James Gray, Bobby Butler, Larry Simpson, Gene Putman and Tonis Michael.

The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and support provided by the nurses and staff of the ECM Coronary Care Unit.
