Mr. Bobbie Edward Mulkey, age 87 of Delta, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his home. There are no services planned at this time.
Mr. Mulkey was born in Ranger, Georgia and lived in that area for the first 50 years of his life. He joined the Army at 18, was stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and Ft. Bragg, and spent 2 years serving in Korea. He had the rank of Sergeant, worked as a communication specialist translating Japanese into English, and was in the Special Forces. He was a proud veteran who served his country. After the military, He worked primarily as an electrician, installing and repairing Laundry machines. Mr. Mulkey had his airplane license, and had even taught himself how to fly. He owned several Cesna planes, and even had a plane he had repaired in his front yard. He also was a truck driver in the logging industry for some time. In his lifetime, he broke several horses, enjoyed going out on the boat, and enjoyed traveling with his family. Mr. Mulkey was an avid motorcycle rider, and outdoorsmen. He could joke and cutup with anyone, and would captivate people with his storytelling, whether the story was true or not. Mr. Mulkey was a loving person, friendly and fun loving, respectful and old fashioned.
Mr. Mulkey is survived by his wife, Jean Mulkey of Delta; his children: Randy Mulkey (Millie) of Chatsworth, GA, Mike Mulkey of Knoxville, TN, Brenda Miller (Mark Minter) of Baldwin, GA, Steven Strange (Teresa K.) of Delta and John Strange (Teresa J.) of Woodland; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; plus a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John Henry and Larua Bell Moss Mulkey; Daughter, Patty Sue Mulkey; son, Johnny Mulkey; one grandson, Charlie Mulkey; 7 sisters: Ruby Franklin, Jo Mulkey, Catherine Henson, Marie Row, Mazelle Turner, Laura Bell Mulkey, and Linelle Mulkey; and three brothers: Doyle Mulkey, Charles Mulkey, and Buddy Mulkey.
