Billy Scott Smith, age 58, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Memorial services will be conducted at 1pm Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Marvin Crouch officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Saturday, March 18th, at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born July 17, 1964 in Nashville, TN to the late Billy Mac and Mary Alice Smith. Billy received his Bachelors Degree from Lipscomb University and went on to receive his Masters Degree from Tennessee State University. He spent his career as football coach and educator. His 2001 Ezell-Harding Christian School football team went 15-0 in route to winning the TSSAA Single A State Championship.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Oakley Sloan Smith; a son, Paxton Bryant Smith; and a brother, Chad Drake Smith.
