Mr. Billy Joe Whisenant, 89, of Guntersville, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. The family will have a memorial service Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Guntersville Memorial Chapel. There will be a visitation before the service, beginning at noon.
Bill was married to Mitzi A. Grayson on May 14, 1985, and they were happily married for 39 years. Bill went to Union Grove High School. He retired with Flavor Rich Dairy, then did courier service for AM South Bank. He lived most of his life in the Union Grove Arab area. He moved to Guntersville for the last twenty years. He was in the National Guard. Loved camping, boating, fishing, building things, traveling, the outdoors, and helping others. He was a very strong-willed person and never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends dearly.
Leaving behind to cherish Bills memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Mitzi Whisenant; daughters, Susan Rowe (Claris), Sandy Higdon (David); Step Son, Cory Lee Havis; grandchildren, Dalton, Brian, Adam, Bucky, Aniah, Alexus, Adrian, Uriah; great grandchildren, Ethan and Lawson and son in law Andy Atchley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Beedie Whisenant, daughter, Marsha Atchley, brothers, LD, Murry, Herschel, and Hubert, and sister, Ethel Dunn.
