Longtime former Verona Mayor Billy Fred Wheeler, 89, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at his Carr Vista residence near Verona after a prolonged illness. Visitation will be from 4PM-8PM Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with a service celebrating his life at 2 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Verona. Burial, with military honors, will be in Lee Memorial Park.
