Betty Whitt Reich, 77, died Friday, June 17, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Betty was a longtime resident of Mantachie. To her family and friends, she was one of a kind. She had a love for others and a kind, giving heart. She took such pride in her home and her beautiful yard. Betty had a quick wit and loved her family greatly. She spent countless hours caring for others in their time of need.
Betty was born on September 19, 1938. She married the love of her life, James Reich, on April 29, 1955, and they made their home in Mantachie. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2012. She was a member of the Mantachie United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with the Rev. Ronnie Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Mears (Ben); two grandchildren, Cole Mears (Laken) and Hunter Mears (fiancée Anna Hood); and one great-granddaughter, Chayni Carol Mears, all of Mantachie; one sister, Annie Turner of Saltillo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Ida Mae Crocker Whitt; four brothers, her twin Billy, Conner, Bobby, and Hubert Whitt; and three sisters, Fleta Green, Cleta Prestage, and Myrtle Mattox.
Pallbearers will be Cole Mears, Hunter Mears, Johnny Jones, Randy Beane, Chris Fair, and Jacob Beane.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the funeral home.
