Billy E. Langford Profile PhotoBilly Edwin Langford, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Cedars of Traceway. He was born on January 3, 1933, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to the late Clarence Edwin Langford and Ada Adeline Bradley Langford.

On November 26, 1955, Billy married the love of his life, Ruth Wages, in Belmont, Mississippi. Together they built a beautiful life and shared more than seventy years together. Billy honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to the Tupelo Fire Department, where he faithfully served the citizens of Tupelo and retired as Assistant Fire Chief in 1987. Never one to slow down, he continued working for Sears until his retirement. Billy was a charter member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and was an active member of his church family for many years. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing. He was a proud member of the Tupelo Bass Club and thoroughly enjoyed participating in different fishing tournaments throughout the years, creating lasting friendships and treasured memories along the way. Billy will be remembered as a hardworking, humble man who loved his family deeply and lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, and quiet strength.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Langford; his daughter, Barbara Kilgore and her husband, Mitch; his granddaughter, Brittany Hasenbeck-Ross of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his great-granddaughters, Alexia Hasenbeck and Brooklyn Hasenbeck; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edwin Langford and Ada Adeline Bradley Langford, and his sisters, Betty Brazile Smith and Jannie Brown.

Pallbearers for the service will be Mickey Wages, Jace Counce, Jude Counce, Luke Smith, David Smith, Brad Brown, Jackie Henderson, and Grant Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Bradley, Barry Bradley, Fred Keen, Wayne Riley, Tommy Vickers, and Sidney Holcomb.

Visitation will be held from 5p.m. until 8p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring Billy’s life, will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2p.m. at Pegues,Tupelo. Dr. Keith Cochran and Bro. Chris O’Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park.
