Bill Schlangen died at his residence on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He is preceded in death by his son, James William, parents, Edward and Flora Schlangen, Brother, Charles Schlangen of Decatur, AL, sisters, Clarice Buchanan, and Mickey Whitehead of Maryville, TN.
He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the VFW Post 4190.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Jean Schlangen, sons, Greg of Greenville, SC, Mike and wife Karen of Decatur,, AL, and Rick and wife Julie of Murfreesboro, TN. Three grandchildren, Ally, Austin and Camryn. Five Step Grandchildren, Brannon, Corey, Lindsey, Brian and Kylee.
Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home on Saturday, December 19, 2015 with service following at 8:00 p.m., with Dr. Alan Queen officiating.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
