Beulah Alta Skelton, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Beulah, a lifelong resident of Larkinsville, Alabama, was born on December 17, 1931. She was fondly called Mama Boots by those that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Skelton, her parents Hulett and Daisy Selby, sister Lorene Utter and her daughter, Shirley McDurmon. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Luczynski, (Thomas) of Florida, sisters Annie Boggus, Marie Selby, Ilene McClure of Larkinsville, Lou Ella Tanner of Tennessee and her brother, Hulett Selby (Linda) of Larkinsville, 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Beulah retired from Andover Togs (previously Dover Mills) after 40 years of service! She was loved by all and she cherished the lifelong friends she made while working there. In her spare time, Beulah enjoyed playing bingo with friends at the Jackson County Senior Center. Her summers were spent helping her siblings in the garden and canning vegetables. Beulah was an amazing cook and always had a sweet treat for her grandchildren. While she will be greatly missed, her memory will be eternal.
The family would like to thank Beulah’s siblings for taking care of her over the past few years. Additionally, the family would like to thank the Nurses, Doctors and Staff on the 6th floor of ICU at the Huntsville Hospital for taking very good care of Beulah in her final weeks of life.
Funeral services will be at the Scottsboro Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Pace Cemetery in Boxes Cove.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wells Clayton Whitworth memorial fund (wcwmf.com) for grieving parents who have experienced the loss of an infant.
