Bettye Lee Malone Orr – Obituary

bettyA Celebration of Life for Bettye Lee Malone Orr, 69, of Decatur, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Ronald L. Merriweather officiating.
Mrs. Orr entered this life on January 22, 1946, to the late Laura Mae Moran McCloud and Roy Lee Malone in Decatur, Morgan County, Alabama. She made her transition to her eternal home on May 27, 2015.
Bettye graduated from Lakeside High School in 1965, where she graduated with honors. She attended Calhoun Community College, where she earned a secretarial degree. She was employed by WMSL Radio Station and later with the Lurleen B. Wallace Center, where she retired after 25 years of service.
She attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and served in Youth Choir and later the Senior Choir and the Usher Board. She served as Secretary to The Christian Fellowship Auxiliary for a number of years.
Bettye joined Canaan, where she coordinated various functions such as the Angel Tree Ministry under the umbrella of the Prison Fellowship Ministry. She also served under other auxiliaries of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl McCloud Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 31 years, Joe Henry Orr; three sons, Charles Malone, Decatur; Raymond Malone, Hillsboro, and Dexter Malone (Gina), of Largo, Maryland; one stepdaughter, Rene Luckett, of Decatur; seven grandchildren, April, Patrick, Katina, Janay and Jasmine Malone, all of Decatur, Darius Malone, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Zara Waters, of Centerville, Ohio; two stepgrandsons, Darius and Marcus Luckett, of Decatur; two aunts, Elnator Malone and Annie Malone Johnson, of Decatur; one nephew, Curtis McCloud (Gloria) and one niece, Lavoris McCloud, both of Decatur.
To all my family and friends who have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who intercedes for us to our Eternal God, “It’s Not Goodbye, But See You Later!”
