Betty Sue McKinney passed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 with the funeral service to follow in the chapel at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. David Conley will be officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Mrs. McKinney was a native of Cherokee and graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School in 1954. She was retired from banking of 39 ½ years, starting in 1955 with First National in Tuscumbia, and retiring with Bank Independent of Sheffield as branch officer in Cherokee in 1999. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She served on the Cherokee Water and Gas Board, and the Cherokee Library Friends Board.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eula Taylor Williams and father, Harvey Williams. She is survived by her husband, Ray McKinney of 67 ½ years; daughters, Sheila Bonds (Kevin), Sharon Richardson (Kevin Smith); sister, Linda Gist; grandchildren, Lorrie Crawford (Devin), Taylor Malone (and family), Lane Gulley (and family); great-grandchildren, Kynlee and Colt Crawford.
The family wishes to thank the Cottage of the Shoals for their dedicated care over the last four years.
