Betty Sue Langley, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, in Guntersville, AL, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 19, 1947, in Montgomery, LA, Betty was the daughter of the late Richard and Clydell McLain.
After graduating from high school, Betty attended Louisiana Tech School in Natchitoches before relocating to New Orleans, where she met and married her husband, Louis Langley. Together, they built a life filled with love and commitment, spanning 48 years. The couple eventually settled in Guntersville, AL, after residing in Washington for some time.
Betty was a talented homemaker who had a flair for interior decorating, home furnishing, and creating beautiful floral arrangements. She was also a gourmet cook, delighting her family with creative meals from recipes she crafted herself. Above all, she cherished spending quality time with her loved ones, especially her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, Louis; her son, Bryan Langley (Carolyn); her son-in-law, Justin Sweeney; her grandchildren, Everett and Easton Sweeney, and Walter and William Langley; her siblings Donald, Janet, Linda, Melvin, Sharon, and Walter. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Sweeney, and her brother, Arnold.
A woman of deep faith, Betty found strength and solace in scriptures such as Deuteronomy 7:9, which emphasizes God’s unwavering love and faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who honor Him. This scripture resonated with Betty’s love for her children, as she believed in the power of the Lord’s loving-kindness to bless her family throughout generations. Inspired by Numbers 6:24-26, Betty maintained a positive outlook on life, believing that the Lord would bless and protect her and her family.
A funeral service for Betty Sue Langley will be held on May 1, 2023, at 2 pm, with a celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.
