Betty “Sue” Brasher of Cullman

Betty “Sue” Brasher of Cullman, Alabama was born on August 3, 1967, to Roy and Betty Jean Spear Speegle passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 58.

Sue grew up in Cullman with 3 sisters and a loving aunt. Her love for baking was launched at the age of 15, when she began her career at Bake and Decorate. Her passion for baking and cooking led her to be known as “Mama Sue” who would feed anyone looking for a hot meal. She served a lot of young children in her neighborhood knowing that a hot meal could solve many of their problems while conversing and guiding them in their daily lives.

Sue is preceded in death by her father, Roy Speegle, Aunt Elizabeth Ann Spear Wright, and three children, Anna Marie Mariano, James Earl Mariano and Zachary Frank Mariano.

Sue is survived by her two children, Bama Sue Minor and Keith Anthony Brasher, Jr. (Chancey); daughter-in-law, Jackie Mariano; Eleven grandchildren, Isaiah Mariano, Peyton Mariano, Elena Mariano, Jeanvie Mariano, Miah Mariano, Zaelia Mariano, Daniel Minor, Bo Smith, Zander Minor, Roy Brasher and Lily Brasher; mother, Betty Jean Spear Speegle; three sisters, Gena Beatrice Speegle Ibrahim (Sam), Kelly Selena Speegle Holmes (Keith), Anna Elizabeth Speegle Green; two nieces, Tracie Lynne Brenner White (Brian) and Aaliyah Catherine Green.
