Betty Ruth Thompson Vandiver Robison, 87, of Tuscumbia, Alabama (formerly of Russellville) died on Thursday, February 12, 2015. At her direction, her body was donated to the University of Alabama at Birmingham for purposes of medical research. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Morrison Funeral Home, 825 North Main Street, Tuscumbia, Alabama with Jeff Abrams officiating. Betty Ruth was a member of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, having been employed for over 40 years at Burns Clinic in Russellville.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Buddy Robison; parents: Norma and Bud Thompson; brothers: Lonnie Thompson, Don Thompson, and Billy Thompson; sisters: Evie Suddith (Preston) and Annie Margaret Hamm (Wendell); daughter-in-law: Rosemary Gatlin Vandiver; and brother-in-law: Steve Reeps.
She is survived by her sons: John Vandiver (Susan), Tom Vandiver (Renee’), and Richie Taylor (Dianne); grandchildren: Walter Vandiver, Sarah Beth Vandiver Alexander (Ben), Tiffany Vandiver, and Katherine Vandiver Clark (Blake); great grandchildren: Mary John Alexander and Greyson Vandiver; brothers: Ralph (Hank) Thompson (Sarah), Hule (Shug) Thompson; sister: Martha Nell Reeps; sister-in-law: Mary Ted Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
The family would like to express gratitude to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Services, Columbia Cottage in Florence, Dr. Ricky Irons, and Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Fourth Street Church of Christ, Tuscumbia, Alabama.
