Betty R. “Nana” Collins, age 84 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rhea, Kentucky on April 24, 1937 to the late James and Dora (Woolum) Hunter. Before her retirement, Nana was a florist and enjoyed creating arrangements and giving them away to brighten others lives. Nana and her husband had traveled during his service in the military, and she often reminisced about Spain where they once had lived. In her spare time, you could find her bird watching, collecting and refurbishing antiques, flower gardening, and canning. But most of all, she cherished spending time and being “Nana” to her family and cooking for them her famous sour dough bread and chocolate pie. She attended Harris Chapel United Methodist Church and Cowan First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Collins; son, Albert L. Collins Jr; daughter, Donna G. Hall; grandson, James Hunter Collins; brothers, Jerry Hunter and Dickie Hunter; and sister, Doris Hunter. Nana is survived by her loving daughter, Ann “Dodie” (Donnie) Brazier; daughter-in-law, Joyce Collins Skelton; second son, Darrell Nelson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lee) Lockhart, Christopher Todd (Karri) Moseley, Kellie Hall, Rachel (Tim) Abair, Michelle (Brett) Kennedy, Stacie (James) Curtis, Joshua (Audrey) Collins, and Jeffery Kyle Bates; great-grandchildren, Lacy and Lexi Lockhart, Christopher Todd Moseley Jr, Coleman Smith, Karlee Posey, Benjamin and Brandon Kennedy, Elliott Curtis, Allee Collins, Kurtiss Collins, and Church Collins; and siblings, Mary Lou Sargent, James “Jimmy” Hunter, Joe (Dot) Hunter, Delores Robbins, Felice (Larry) McInturf, Morris Hunter, and Susie Hunter. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro.
