Betty Marie King, age 61 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Monday, November 26, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 26, 1951, in Haleyville, Alabama to Cleveland and Edna “Peggy” Peppers. She graduated from Winston County High School in 1969 and went on to attend Northwest College in Phil Campbell. Mrs. King was a member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church for 31 years and also worked for Dave Carter and Associates for 31 years. Her hobbies included shopping and watching her great niece and great nephews play baseball.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 6-9pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where services will be held on Thursday, November 29 at 11am. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. Reverend Mickey Crane will officiate.
She is survived by her husband of 33½ years, Joe L. King; stepsons, Kevin Mark King, Jeffrey Wayne King; stepdaughter, Jona Lynn Wood; sister, Joanie Wright and her husband, Travis; she was “Gabby” to 6 grandchildren, Josh King, Sara Jane King, Emma King, Murry Wood, Zachary Wood, Tamra Alexander; she was “Granny” to one great grandchild, Aiden Grant Alexander; nephew, Chris Wright, Zak Green; niece, Kim Wright, Brittney Green; great nephews, Zachary Wright, Aiden Fox, Eli Green; great nieces, Olivia Wright, and Kayleigh Grace Green (due March 2013).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Edna “Peggy” Peppers; daughter, Tracie Bartlett; grandfather, Theo Godsey, and grandmother, Alma Godsey.
