Betty Johnson, 91, passed peacefully in her sleep into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Generations of Red Bay. She was born in November 23, 1934 in Dennis, MS, to Austin and Erma Pharr Ivy. Betty was born in November 1934 in Dennis, MS. She married her husband, W.E. Johnson in 1957, and they spent 63 loving years together, until he proceeded her in 2020. Betty was a schoolteacher for many years, a loving mother, and a devoted pastor’s wife. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and hosting family and friends in her home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont, MS, with Bro. Jacob Pharr officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS, will be in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Rachel Burgardt; one son, Rick Johnson; four grandchildren, Erin Blackmon, Kelly Page, Alexandra Eben, and Adam Eben and two sisters, Bertyce Cleveland and Jane Shaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, W.E. Johnson; her parents; two brothers, James Ellis Ivy and Larry Paul Ivy; and one sister, Marie Harwood.
Pallbearers will be Adam Eben, Jessie Blackmon, Richard Burgardt, Phillip Robbins, Ben Robbins and Alan Rouse.
