Betty Graves Chitwood, 93, of Fort Payne, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 24, 1932 in Rome, Georgia, to the late Ulyss Rice Graves and Detha Whitmire Graves. She and her husband Briggs owned and operated Briggs Cabinet Shop for over 40 years. She was a member of Minvale Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 17th at Wilson Funeral Home with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to TC Thompson Children’s Hospital PICU or the Ronald McDonald House.
She is survived by her daughters Detha Mika and husband Jon, Linda Chitwood, and Beth Thomas and husband Bryan; grandchildren Jonathan Mika, Cole Howard, Nicolette Waller, Shawn Thomas, and Jordan Thomas; and great-grandchildren Dylan Mika, Nolan Mika, Briggs Waller, and Jaxton Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Briggs Chitwood in 2016.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of services.
