Betty Goodin King, 87, of Athens, passed away on Monday, March 9th, 2026, at her residence. Mrs. King was born on June 7th, 1938, in Athens, Alabama, to Lemuel and Molly (Baugher) Goodin.
Mrs. King is survived by her daughter, Janet King Tankersley; sons, Glen King (Dawn) and Ritchie King (Bette); grandchildren, Christopher Johnson (Jessica), Olivia King, Hillary Black (Jacob), and Jordan King; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Key and Marie McNatt (Billy); and former daughter-in-law, Gena Clemmons.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William G. King; and siblings, Louise Price, Lawrence Goodin, Leroy Goodin, Harvey Goodin, Charles Goodin, Archie Goodin, Gladys Nelson, and Kathleen Carr.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be Thursday, March 12th, 2026, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, at 3:00 p.m., with Bro. Rick Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Christopher Johnson, Jordan King, Jacob Black, Seth Fiscus, Stanley McNatt, and James McNatt. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. King loved music and was a member of The Golden Age band.
