Funeral for Betty Dempsey Jones, 65, of Trinity will be Monday, March 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Bro. Rollins of the Church of God, Highway 24 officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation willl be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Betty, who died March 21, 2014, at home was born April 28, 1948, in Lawrence County to the late Paul Dempsey and Lois Bolden. Disabled since 1991 from a work injury, she loved to attend church and spend time with family. While battling cancer she was surrounded by a host of angels in nursing uniforms on the 5th floor of the hospital. She loved them in a way that even death cannot defeat. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Justin Cox.
Survivors include spouse, James Edward Jones (divorced, but a great relationship); sons, Wayne Jones, Mitchell Jones; daughters, Teresa Jones Cox, Rebecca Jones Thompson; stepmother, Katherine Dempsey; sister, Dorthy Jones Callahan; sister-in-law, Claudia Hathaway; halfbrothers, Tommy Lynn, Felton Blackwood; halfsister, Susan Jefferies; stepbrothers, Ronnie, Roger, Tony, Terry Hoskins Dempsey; stepsister, Tonya Dempsey; grandchildren, Kyle and Kaleb Jones, Megan, Max, Jerrod Jones, Alegra Cox; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Briley Carter and Bella Jones, Mace Thompson, James Dylan Cox and one unborn great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Kaleb and Kyle Jones, Mitchell, Jerold Thompson, Max Jones and Jerrod Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Edward and Wayne Jones.
