Betty Brock, 65, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, after an extended illness. Born on November 8, 1958, to Doris Murrell Brock and Roy Hollis Brock, Jr., she graduated from Franklin County High School in 1976 and Middle Tennessee State University in 1980. For over thirty years, Betty built a career as an association professional specializing in meeting and conference planning. She served as the Executive Director of the Tennessee Society of Association Executives, worked with the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, Southeastern Equipment Dealer Association, Alpaca Owner and Breeder Association, Tennessee Fuel & Convenience Store Association, and the Oak Ridge Association Management Company. Where her light was truly evident was with her love for her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi). Betty became a member of the Epsilon Tau Chapter of ADPi in 1977 and quickly became a leader, serving as president from 1979-1980. Upon graduation, she continued to work with the ADPi sisterhood both locally and internationally. She served locally as chapter advisor for Epsilon Tau and was honored for this service through the establishment of the Betty Brock Standards and Ethics Award. For her active involvement with the Nashville ADPi Alumnae Association, she was awarded the Greek Woman of the Year Award and the Member of the Year Award. At the international level, Betty served as Province Director, Director of Development, and delegate and chair of the sorority’s nominating committee; she was also awarded the Outstanding Alumnae Achievement Award for her contribution to Alpha Delta Pi. Betty volunteered at the Nashville Ronald McDonald House, helping with fundraising events, and she was a big sister for Buddies of Nashville. She served on the board of Young Leaders, a training program for volunteers, and participated in Tennessee Leadership, a program for outstanding women in the state. As a member of the Junior League, she worked for OUR Kids, providing evaluations for young victims of sexual abuse. She also served OUR Kids as a member of their board. The purest testament to the impact Betty had on others and the lifelong bonds that were formed in college was shown when sorority sisters, some who had not seen each other in over 40 years, came together in person and virtually to pray, visit, and help care for Betty during her illness. She was surrounded by love from her relatives and from her other family, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi, until she completed her journey home. Betty is survived by her sister Pam Brock, with whom Betty shared a home, her brother Roy Hollis Brock, III, and his wife Deborah, niece Kylie Ruth Brock, nephew Pearson Alexander Brock and his wife Ashely, great nephew, Knox, great niece, Aspen, uncle Frank Brock and his wife Elizabeth, and several cousins.
