Betty Ann DeRidder, 92, departed her earthly home on September 30, 2023, at her residence in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was born on July 11, 1931, in Newark, New Jersey, to Tracy and Willie Bell Wood Green, but Betty’s family are natives of Diana community in Tennessee.

The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Betty Ann’s life will be held on October 6, 2023, at 3:00 pm at the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Prior to the service, there will be a public viewing from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, allowing friends, family, and community members the opportunity to pay their final respects.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Bill DeRidder. They would have celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this October. She is also survived by her sons, Robert (Wendy) DeRidder, William (Chris) DeRidder and Tom (Susan) DeRidder; her daughter, Diana (Tim) Hoppe; grandchildren, Tyler, Adam, Drew, Chase, Taylor, Josh, McKayla, Josey, Tanner, Hayden; several great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, David Wayne DeRidder; and sister, Mary Armour.

Before settling in Tennessee, Betty Ann pursued her passion as a professional ballet dancer in the vibrant city of New York. She gracefully captivated audiences with her talent and dedication to her craft.  Betty later devoted herself to Wal-Mart for 30 years, where she could be a social butterfly that brought joy to her colleagues and customers alike.

Betty had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, evident in her love for flowers and plants. She nurtured her plants with great care, finding solace and peace amidst them. Additionally, she had a profound affection for animals, particularly dogs. Her kind heart led her to rescue and provide a loving home to numerous furry friends over the years. Betty treasured her loved ones the most, loving each moment spent with them. She fostered deep connections and created lasting memories that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

Betty was a faithful woman who loved the Lord. She gave testimony to everyone she could including family, friends, neighbors, nurses, and even strangers. While living in New Jersey, she led a bus ministry for her church. She would go around the community and invite people to church. If someone, especially children, needed a ride, Betty arranged for her bus to pick them up for church. Many times, you could find Betty singing on the bus during the ride to church.

In this time of profound loss, we find solace in knowing that Betty spirit will continue to shine brightly through the cherished memories she leaves behind.

Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the family with the arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.billsmcgaugh.com.
