Bethel Leona Shores Syler, age 92 of Huntland, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at her home. She was born on September 15, 1929, in Jackson County, Alabama to the late Irene Vincent Spivey Shores and William Henry Shores. Bethel married Bernard (Bud) Martin Syler on December 27, 1952, a forty-year marriage that lasted until his death on September 17, 1993. A dedicated homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, growing flowers, and cooking for her family. A wonderful Christian mother with great strength and values, she had an undying love for her family. Bethel was a member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Huntland. She is survived by her loving children, Sheila Sullivan of Huntland, Joe (Wanda) Syler of Huntland, and David (Heidi) Syler of Monteagle; grandchildren, Robert (Amber) Sullivan of Huntland, William (Shay) Sullivan of Huntland, Sarah (Andy) Yarbrough of Chattanooga, Amy Syler of Huntland, Matt (Christy) Brooks of Huntland, Kayla (Nathan) Foreman of Hixson, and Ally Syler of Monteagle; great-grandchildren, Martin Sullivan, Jayci Sullivan, Waylon Sullivan, Abby Yarbrough, Addison Yarbrough, Grayson Syler, Julia Foreman, and Leona Foreman; and fur baby, Sweetie. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Chaplain Jeff Collet officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Special thanks to all the staff at Compassus for their care and compassion to our family during our mother’s illness. We appreciate and love you all.
