Funeral services for Boyd J. Meredith, better know as A. J. McCloud, will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donald Smith to officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Boyd J. Meredith, age 62, passed away at his home on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a respected member of his community no matter his physical address. Boyd participated heavily with his church family of Priceville Baptist Church in Priceville, AL as well as endless help and love to local organizations, jails, hospital and institutions.
Boyd was born on January 22, 1962, in Louisville, KY to Wilmoth and Cora Stewart Meredith. He was a 1980 graduate of Western High School and later went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville in 1989 for mass communication. Boyd had a passion for radio and the music industry who would become widely known and adored professionally as A. J. McCloud. Whether it be live on the radio, courtside or sideline, Sunday morning or any day of the week….. Boyd was motivated and always pursuing to be the best husband, father, grandfather and friend he could be.
Boyd is survived by his mother, Cora Virginia Stewart Meredith; brother, Gavin A. (Debbie) Meredith; wife of 39 years, Mary Meredith; sons, Matthew J. Meredith and Nicholas “Nick” (Lisa) Meredith; grandchildren, Brody and Bexley Meredith. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmoth “Billy Joe” Meredith.
