Bernie Wayne Hill, age 63 of Decherd, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on March 15, 1958, to the late Cecil Dean Ashley and Nancy Jane (Hill) Champion. Bernie was employed as a truck driver for over forty-five years, logging in over five million miles. He enjoyed working in the yard and around the house as well as karaoke and dancing. But most of all, Bernie cherished the time spent with his beloved family. He was an amazing man, a true “one of a kind,” and would give the shirt off his back to those in need. Bernie was a member of the Manchester Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Cecil Edward Champion; siblings, Tammy Chambers, and Renee Ashley; and grandchildren, Jessica Wise and Jayden Wayne Hill. Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Susie “Sarah” Hill of Decherd; children, Jason Hill of Winchester, Gena Masingille of Winchester, Jeremy (Pam) Hill of Winchester, and Natalie Hill of Shelbyville; step-children, Sherry Wise of Goshen, Indiana, Nathan (Deann) Bertram of Defuniak, Florida, Etta Labastie of Santa Rosa, Florida, and Jay Bertram of Defuniak, Florida; twenty-five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Michael Ashley, Dean Ashley, Wesley Ashley, Darrell Ashley, Tracy Champion, Cecil Champion, Sybil Bishop, and Sarah Dunn; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday, August 27, 2021, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro.
