Bernard “Billy” Richardson, 75, of Florence, Ala., passed away June 9, 2013, after an extended illness. Mr. Richardson was a retired State Investigator for the Alabama State Troopers with the rank of lieutenant, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the Alabama State Troopers Association.
Survivors include wife, Gaynelle (Dollie) Herston Richardson; sons, Scott Richardson (Kim), Sam Richardson (Edie) and Sloan Richardson (Melanie); sister, Sue Richardson Goins; sister-in-law, Ethel Richardson; grandchildren, Jerra, Sawyer, Lily, Ryan, Seth, Kady, Jude, and Claire Richardson.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Marvoline Gray Richardson; daughter, Robin Richardson; brother, James “Tooter” Richardson; and brother-in-law, Larry Goins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from noon-2 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Brother Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. His fellow State Troopers will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home for their care during Mr. Richardson’s illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
