Berdie M. Thompson, age 89 of Cherokee, passed away on Friday, January 30th,2015. Her visitation will be Saturday, January 31st, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. She will lie-in-state at Shackelford Funeral Home, Collinwood, TN, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1st, 2015. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Steve Butler officiating. Burial will be in McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood, TN.
Berdie was a native of Wayne County, TN and a member of Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert P. Thompson; and grandson, Darryl Beckham.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Thompson (Beverly) and Kenneth Thompson (Regina); daughters, Peggy Williams and Shirley Roten, all of Cherokee; grandchildren, Philecia Skidmore, Frank Williams, Kim Hamlin, Ann Sharae Young, Channing, Jamie, Paul, Joey and Kendrick Thompson, and Nick Looney; and a host of great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Grandsons and family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to thank the nurses in CCU at ECM, Dr. Holden, Dr. Lango, Dr. Reinkes, Dr. Rao and Raj Boorgu, Dr. Paul and Dr. Wilson for their wonderful care; and for all the prayers of our friends and family.
