Benita Lynn Ligon, who was an RN, had a gift for serving and caring for others. She passed from this life on Wednesday, November 8th at the age of 65. A private service will be held at a later date.

Benita was born on November 30, 1957, to James and Christeen Ligon in Colbert County, Alabama. She graduated from Colbert County High School and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She spent her career as a nurse serving her patients with respect, dignity, humor, and true compassion. Benita loved her friends and family with all her heart. She enjoyed traveling and was very adventurous. She loved Auburn football and cheering them on each Saturday. Benita loved her nieces and nephews as her own children and her pets were her babies. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Christeen Ligon; and baby sister, Betty Gail.

Survivors include her sisters, Beverly Gargis (Buddy) and Sharon Hardwick (Rayford); nephews, Matt Gargis (Destin) and Max Hardwick (Lupe); great-nieces, Elizabeth Neu, Gracie Gargis, and Mattie Gargis; and five great-great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the local animal shelter in memory of Benita.
