Rebecca "Becky" Jane JordanBecky (Rebecca) Jordan passed on October 25, at age 90. She was a long time resident of Decatur, AL, and was married for some 60 years to Max Jordan, who passed in 2019. Both were born in rural southwestern Georgia. She is survived by her two sons, Glenn (Suzanne), and Al, and two grandchildren, Ben and Samantha. She spent decades working as a librarian at Woodmeade Elementary School, where she also read hundreds of books to thousands of students, over the years. She has long been cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother, and also as a sister to her four siblings, Regina, Marcia, Charles Ike, and Linda.

In later years, she loved her role as Nana to her two grandchildren, and relished her friendships from her teaching and church families. She volunteered in her community, cared for her husband as his health dimmed, and supported her children in every way she could. She enjoyed seeing others succeed, and avoided the spotlight whenever possible. She was both humble and inspiring, both intensely private yet loved by thousands. The quiet librarian from southwest Georgia left a massive impact on the Decatur community, spread over generations. We grieve her loss, but we celebrate her legacy, and take comfort in her life long faith.

The family with have visitation on Friday, October 30, at 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at Shelton Funeral Home. A short service will follow in the Shelton Chapel. The burial will be performed without formal ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local school libraries, and local reading programs, as desired by friends and family.
