Barbara Louise Archer, 85 of Athens, passed away on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at Madison Hospital. Mrs. Archer was born on January 15th, 1940, in Green, Ohio, to Clifford and Thelma Cathey.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bob Archer; two daughters, Susan Elam, of Harvest, Alabama, and Kristine Hoshall (Mark); one son, Jeffrey Archer (Martha), of Athens, Alabama; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Baileys, Delores Mazzei, and Joyce Eveleth, all of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a faithful member of Marion Street Church of Christ.
She served faithfully alongside her husband, Bob, as both a preacher’s and an elder’s wife. Bob often said he couldn’t have fulfilled his roles without her steadfast support and partnership.
Barbara’s faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and church left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her influence extended far beyond her family. A recent note from a member of a Texas church where she and Bob served 32 years reads:
“Dear Barbara, I am still remembering the lessons you taught in years you lived here. Your godliness, kindness, self-control, and patience were excellent examples for me. I love you and am praying for you.”
Funeral services for Mrs. Archer will be Monday, February 10th, 2025, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Tyler Sams officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00-1:45pm at the funeral home.
