Obituary of Barbara Jo Stoddard Barbara Jo Stoddard, age 80, passed away peacefully in her home on January 2nd, 2025. She was a graduate of Gordo High School C/O 1962 and a graduate of Tuscaloosa State Technical College as an LPN. She worked as a nurse in many specialties, but found her love for pediatrics at Gadsden Pediatric Clinic in 1971 until she retired in 2007. After retirement, her love for nursing persisted in her work with the Alabama Department of Public Health and her volunteer nursing work at the Etowah County Free Community Clinic. She was known as the “party planner” by her colleagues and was a beacon of unwavering kindness and love for all who knew her. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Howell Stoddard; son, John Harrison Stoddard Jr.; parents,Terry Hill Norris and Myrtie Ann (Marlow) Norris; brothers, Charles Terry Norris and Lewis Edward Norris; and sister, Edna Earl (Norris) Freeman.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Savannah (Matthew) Scott, Mason (Charity) Stoddard, and Nathan Stoddard. Her great-grandchild: Clayton Scott. Her Sisters: Mary Jewel Evans and Phyllis Norris Manley. Numerous nieces and nephews including special niece and nephews Sarah Walker Savage, Jeffrey Norris, and Brent Norris.

Pallbearers will be Mason Stoddard and Matthew Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Stoddard, Jeff Norris, Brent Norris, and Keith Abernathy.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Service will be held at 12:30 p.m at Collier-Butler Chapel. Father Jose B. Chacko will officiate. Entombment will follow at Crestwood Mausoleum.
