In Loving Memory of Barbara Jean Johnson
Barbara Jean Johnson, age 81, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her. Barbara was a strong and independent woman who spent many years doing what she loved—driving an 18-wheeler and enjoying the open road. She also cherished her neighbors and friends at her apartment complex. She had a special love for her precious dogs, who brought her much joy and companionship throughout her life. She leaves behind her son, William Glen Slay; grandson, William Robert Slay (Cheyenne) and their children Madilynn Bond, Airiona Hargett, and Jaidin Hargett; granddaughter, Christina Jeanette Smith and her children, C.J. Borden and Makenzy Borden; and her best friend, Betty Jo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Johnson and Addie Pilgrim, and her beloved Dezeraye Borden will be waiting for her in heaven. Barbara will be remembered for her strength, her love of trucking, her caring heart, her precious dogs, and the many lives she touched along the way. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. “May the road rise to meet you, and may you ride peacefully into the sunset.” In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, no services will be held. Her family asks that you celebrate her life by remembering the good times, sharing the stories that bring a smile, and holding the cherished memories she leaves behind. Special Thanks Barbara’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Alabama Hospice of the Shoals, especially Nurse Donna, for the compassion, care, and kindness shown to Barbara and her family during this difficult time.
