Barbara Ann Rouse Elders was born on May 8, 1956 in Birmingham, Alabama and died in a Mesquite, Texas hospital on September 17, 2019. She was 63 years old.

Funeral services for Barbara will be conducted at New Horizon Funeral Home in Dora, Alabama on Monday, October 7, 2019, at 12:00 P.M. Private family visitation is scheduled on the same day from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friends and associates of Barbara are welcomed to pay their respects to her between 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Burial will follow the funeral service at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.

Reverend Rickey Adams, a devoted friend, close confident and longtime pastor to many members of the entire Rouse family, will, once again, be called upon to deliver the eulogy and farewell address for a loved one who left this walk of life on her journey to Heaven much earlier than she should have, leaving behind a multitude of loved ones with broken hearts and tearful eyes, mourning the loss of a kind, wonderful, and giving person. Barbara truly illustrated and personified the goodness, selflessness, and love for others that all of us should strive for. She literally could not do enough for her family and friends. Her soft, gentle ways and forgiving nature will continue to be an inspiration to all of us. The thought that Barbara will now be reunited in Heaven with Timmy, her husband and best friend of almost 42 years, certainly comforts us, along with the realization that she will now be welcomed with open arms by many other family members who went before her. May Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, along with all of the Angels accompanying him, hold Barbara near and console her often, as she awaits the arrival of the rest of us who will, one day, join her in a special place beside her.

Barbara spent over forty years in several proud and rewarding careers, with thirty five of those years in the banking industry. She was employed with Chase Bank in Mesquite, Texas for thirty two of those wonderful years, working alongside several devoted friends that stayed by her side to the very end, including her dear friend, Kathy and her close friend, Marina, two people that Barbara’s family will always be eternally grateful to for their love and comfort to Barbara in her time of greatest need. We are also especially grateful to Barbara’s next door neighbor and thoughtful friend, Margaret, for her invaluable assistance and support of Barbara and several of Barbara’s family members who Margaret treated like one of her own.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Timmy Elders, her father, Milford Alton Rouse, Sr., and her siblings, Milford Alton Rouse, Jr., Gloria Louise Cordell, and Mary Kathy Sue Richey. She is survived by her mother, Ila Mae Rouse and her siblings, Lloyd Rouse (Janice), Linda Stone, George Rouse, Faye Green (Robert), and Cheryl Sargent (Paul). Barbara also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends.
