Audrey Bell Edwards Gibbs, age 70, of Madison, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, in Athens. Born on June 18, 1955, Audrey lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family.
She was the beloved wife of David Gibbs for 53 years and a devoted mother to Lisa (Shelton) Barfield, Paul (Amanda) Gibbs, and Robert (Cas) Gibbs. Audrey was a proud and loving grandmother to Sarah Resler-Barfield, Daniel Gibbs, Addison Gibbs, and Mason Gibbs, each of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brother, Phillip (Alice) Edwards.
She is preceded in death by her father, Hershel Edwards; mother, Martha Edwards; and brother, James Edwards.
A faithful member of the Catholic Church, Audrey lived her life guided by her deep faith. She was known for her kind heart, her unwavering compassion, and her natural ability to care for others. Whether through quiet acts of service or simply being present for those she loved, Audrey made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Above all, Audrey cherished her family. She found her greatest happiness in being a mother and grandmother, and her legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will continue to live on through them.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, from 6-9 PM, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11AM at St. Paul Catholic Church. Prior to the mass, there will be a short visitation from 10:30-11AM. Burial will follow the mass at Thatch-Mann Cemetery
