ATHENS-Athens State University Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Dr. Quanda Watson-Stevenson was chosen as a faculty advisor for the Athens State University Leading Edge Institute (LEI) Fellows Scholarship, XIII Class for Women. She will represent Athens State along with LEI Fellows Scholarship student winners for 2014-2015 Ms. Elizabeth Becerra, Ms. Vickie Horne and Ms. Raven Southward.
Becerra is a junior at Athens State University majoring in Criminal Justice with a focus on law enforcement and security. She is the 2014-2015 Criminal Justice Students Association President.
Her future career plans are to work as a federal agent.
Horne is a senior at Athens State University. Athens State University has given Vickie the opportunity to study education, arts and sciences. She has completed courses and training in Photography, Art, Computer Graphics and Advanced Microscopy Digital Analysis. After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in 2015, she has plans to pursue her Master’s Degree.
Southward is a junior, pursuing an Elementary Education degree. Her plans are to graduate Fall 2015 and continue her education in a Master’s program in Education. She plans to become a school administrator.
The Leading Edge Institute is a dynamic leadership program dedicated to working with college women across the state of Alabama. Leading Edge Institute brings women together to develop their leadership skills, expose them to critical issues facing Alabama and, most importantly, inspire them to make a difference in our state.
This conference requires a week long leadership training, completion of a service program for the Athens community, and attendance at the winter symposium (conference) in February 2015.
