Athens Man Dies From Injuries Received In Two-Vehicle Crash

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person and sent another to hospital:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:34 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, has claimed the life of an Athens man.

Gary D. Brown, 61, was fatally injured when the 2007 Ford Focus that he was driving struck the 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by Joshua D. Odom, 25, of Anderson. After the initial impact, both vehicles left the roadway and struck a ditch. Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene. Odom was injured and transported to Athens Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Brownsferry Road near Carter Road, approximately three miles south of Athens, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
